FRISCO, Texas — There is much to do and, despite what you might believe, the ÃÛÌÒTV don't have much time to do it. Their offseason arrived with the first order of business is for the team and head coach Mike McCarthy being to make a decision on their future — one that concluded with McCarthy departing North Texas as his contract expired on January 14.
Since that point, the Cowboys have named Brian Schottenheimer as head coach, lost key coordinators and assistant coaches — e.g., John "Bones" Fassel and Al Harris — replaced them with headline names like Matt Eberflus and Nick Sorensen, as well as Klayton Adams, successfully re-signed heralded tight ends coach Lunda Wells; and finalized the the coaching staff to try and make the future a promising one.
The mission is certainly helped by the five-year contract extension being signed by vice president of player personnel Will McClay.
The roster itself has already been shaped by NFL free agency, re-signing Osa Odighizuwa and reuniting with Dante Fowler but losing Jourdan Lewis, though adding Solomon Thomas and others to the mix, including by way of trade(s).
Below is the complete and remaining calendar of deadlines to help serve as your roadmap for the Cowboys' offseason, with the 2025 NFL Combine now in the rearview and free agency barreling toward the front office — a contract decision on Osa Odighizuwa, Jourdan Lewis and DeMarcus Lawrence looming, as just a few examples of what's to come.

It's time to batten down the hatches and make decisions on all of that far more, including what are evolving into blockbuster negotiations with all-world pass rusher Micah Parsons and, on the much simpler front, simply pulling the trigger to exercise the fifth-year option on All-Pro and two-time Pro Bowl left guard Tyler Smith.
Both are no-brainers, though one is wildly simpler of a task than the other.
This will be an offseason dominated by headlines of all types in Dallas, from coaches to players and potentially a high-level exec as well, and time waits for no man; and for no NFL team.
